Flowers for Baby Shower

I know, I know I keep saying wait until Saturday and I will post all the pics, but I am out of control. Here are the flowers that will be on the dessert table with the diaper cake.
We decided to use the one on the right. There will be five of them total.
Here is how I did them. At Hobby Lobby or your local craft store I found the cheapest clear vases in the size I wanted. Then I chose my artificial flowers. I like the ones that come in bunches and then I just break them apart, much more economical this way. I then wrapped them with the leftover ribbon from the diaper cake and PRESTO here is the result. I think they look more impressive next to the cake so don't forget to check back for the baby shower pics.

Diaper Cake

As I mentioned before I am helping with a baby shower for my sister-in-law, Anna. Here is the diaper cake I made for her. These are a cinch to make. Pick your colors choose some ribbon and then add all the cute baby stuff!

If you need ideas just google diaper cakes images. There are also some tutorials on You Tube. I have added the link to a great tutorial.

I will be posting pics of the dessert table and gift table after Saturday. All of which were inspired by a wonderful designer Amy Atlas. If you haven't checked out here site you are definitely missing out. She is amazing!!!

Jack-O-Lanterns

If you are decorating inside or oustide. Martha Stewart has ideas for everyone. Be sure to get creative and mix and match some her ideas.

I think this year I am going to try the Scream pumpkin. Take an upside down elongated gourd (should be in the shape of a skull) paint the whole thing white, and then use black paint to paint the eyes and mouth. You can then use fabric to create a hood for your scream face or more black paint.

Halloween is right around the corner!!!

Usually for Halloween some of my family and I get together and carve pumpkins, lots and lots of pumpkins!

Pumpkin Masters is the easiest to use. You should be able to find these in any of your local stores. It will come with several patterns (all pictured on the cover) and all the utensils you will need.

Some useful hints I have learned over the years:

1. Scoop the goop and scrape the inside of you pumpkin so it is thin. This makes your pumpkin glow brighter.

2. Bigger is not always better. The bigger the pumpkin the more space you have to carve.

3. Patience is key. Expect at least an hour to carve.

Whether you are decorating for the holidays or planning a special party; what starts out as fun can become very over whelming very quickly.

While I'm surfing the internet for ideas my head starts spinning with ideas. The only way I know how to cope with all the "dizziness" is to grab a piece of paper and a pencil and start sketching my lay out.

Trust me, I am the world's worst sketcher; but it only needs to make sense to me, so I just go to town. Sure enough days later I am still referring to this pathetic little drawing, that could make my nieces die of laughter. Yes the stress is still there and the grey hair is multiplying, but all I can think about are all the final touches. To me the best parts of all the planning are all the little final touches.

My latest endeavor was to plan a baby shower with my stepmother, Nancy, for my sister in law Anna. The party is this weekend so there will be pictures and details of all the diy decor and give aways we are doing.
